But just relax that mouse finger, buddy, because Niia’s unique take on the Tears For Fears classic will make you remember why you loved the song in the first place. At only 23 songstress Niia has already worked with Wyclef Jean, Lil Wayne and Akon off the back of lighting up the blogosphere over the past year with her hauntingly beautiful takes on songs by artists like Frank Sinatra and Lady Gaga. Her recent take on ‘Mad World’ has been making hype online, in all the right places.

Something we’re sure she’s becoming accustomed to. While the debate continues between fans of the Tears for Fears and the Gary Jules versions, Niia has managed to take a step back and seemingly take the best of both worlds to create an eerily sweet and distant track. Her silky vocals hold the despondent nature of the lyrics, while at the same time glide smoothly over almost upbeat, deep baselines and drum machines. Niia’s version of Mad World is testament to the brilliance of the lyrics and structure of the original song, as well as her own talents as a producer and singer.
